In order to provide a stable experience to the public, Xiaomi decided to suspend the release of MIUI Global Beta ROM for all devices. The new change will take effect on July 1. The Beijing-based company is announced through its MIUI community forum. It is worth noting that Xiaomi has released global MIUI updates through two distinct channels, namely beta and stable, and the latest decisions are limited. This means that the company will not release any changes to its stable version of the beta version. In fact, it also promises to release stable version updates “more frequently” than before.
The MIUI Global Beta ROM build can be used for testing purposes, and can also carry the errors and problems that users need to face in order to test early additions. All of this affects the user experience and limits stability, which is clearly the main issue with the suspension of future beta releases.
“As the MIUI experience has matured, the need for stability is becoming increasingly more important,” the company said in the forum post. “In order to meet the demands of most of our users and release stable version updates more frequently, our team of engineers has decided to stop releasing the global version of MIUI Beta for all devices starting July 1, 2019.”
However, Xiaomi has promised to improve the stable version of MIUI to users around the world. It will continue to provide all necessary security updates “on time”.
It is worth pointing out that all Xiaomi phones, in addition to those belonging to Google Android One and Android Go programs, currently run custom MIUI skins on the Android operating system. The company also released a version of MIUI Beta ROM for its Chinese users, who are unlikely to be affected by the latest decisions.
Just earlier this week, Xiaomi announced the removal of more than a year of budget phones and models from China’s MIUI Beta program. Changes in the MIUI launch process will begin on July 5.
