Xiaomi and Meitu announce CC series of selfie-focused phones; CC9 and CC9e coming soon?

Yesterday, Xiaomi claimed that it will announce a new smartphone series at 10 am this morning. Chinese companies adhere to their commitments and today launched a CC series in cooperation with Meitu. The new series is expected to be aimed at selfi centric users. The first CC Series device, which is expected to debut, is codenamed “Little Fairy.”

Xiaomi is known for selling impressive mobile phones at nominal prices, while Meitu phones have always had a top-level self-timer. Therefore, the upcoming Xiaomi CC smartphone will have a selfi centric function and will bring an affordable price tag. Now that the company has launched a new series, it will soon begin to use the features of the first CC smartphone in the next few days.

Some reports claim that the Xiaomi CC series can target female audiences. The “Little Fairy” code also suggests that Xiaomi and Meitu AI Aesthetics Lab will work together to launch customized smartphones for female users.

In November 2018, Meitu was known for its self-portrait app and self-timer-based smartphones, and established a strategic partnership with Xiaomi. This cooperation enabled Xiaomi to use Meitu’s image-related algorithms to build, design and promote new mobile phones.

The leaky poster of Xiaomi-Meitu mobile phone shows that a smartphone with a flip camera module like ASUS ZenFone 6 may be under development. The leaked image shows that the flip camera module is equipped with three camera sensors. However, it seems that the Xiaomi M1904F3BC may be the first Xiaomi CC series smartphone because it appears on the website of the China TENAA Telecommunications Authority. The preliminary specifications appearing on the TENAA show it has a 6.38-inch display and a 3,900 mAh minimum capacity battery. The image of the phone shows that it can be equipped with a water-dropping notch display enabled by a screen fingerprint scanner and a 480-megapixel triple-camera system driven by artificial intelligence. The same mobile phone equipped with an 18W charger has been recognized by the Chinese 3C authority.

There are rumors that Xiaomi Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e will be equipped with AMOLED screen, equipped with a fingerprint fingerprint scanner, a 320,000-pixel self-timer camera, a 480,000-pixel triple shot and a 4,000mAh battery. The CC9 phone may be equipped with a Snapdragon 730, while the CC9e can be equipped with a Snapdragon 710 chipset. Mi CC9 variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage can cost 2,499 yuan (~$362), 2,799 yuan (~$405) and 3,099 yuan respectively ( ~ $ 449). Mi CC9e with 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage space can cost 1599 yuan (about 231 US dollars).
