A few days ago, Oppo revealed that it will announce its new smartphone with insufficient display at the 2019 Shanghai Mobile World Congress held from June 26th to June 29th. Now, the company has confirmed that smartphones with display cameras will be unveiled on June 26.
The Chinese manufacturer also shared a preview video showing the development of the Oppo front camera housing technology. It shows the Oppo N series of rotating selfie cameras, water drop notches, pop-up camera settings on Oppo Find X, and shark fin settings on Oppo Reno.
This clearly implies the next logical evolution of the technology, which places the front camera sensor behind the display. In the last frame, the company showed off an Oppo smartphone with a front camera that doesn’t depend on any mechanical structure and has a true full-screen design. This will be the world’s first smartphone with a front-facing camera setup.
In a short film shared by the company on the microblog of China’s Weibo platform, a mobile phone with insufficient display was displayed. It has a front-facing camera that does not require notches, teardrops, punchers, pop-ups, or even sliding mechanisms to keep the side-to-side display undisturbed.
