BSNL may not be the healthiest state, but telecom operators are sparing no effort to get back on track. Despite various financial conditions, BSNL is proposing profitable offers to keep existing customers interested and attract more customers from other networks. This is why state-owned telecom operators are the only operators outside of Reliance Jio that receive subscribers every month. To achieve this continuity, there is another BSNL program that will attract netizens.
BSNL has proposed a new data plan that aims to provide data advantages separately. The new plan costs Rs 1,345 and is valid for 365 days. Through this program, subscribers will receive a 1.5GB data advantage per day for 365 days. However, this program does not offer any benefit in terms of calls or text messages. First reported by Telecom Talk, the Rs 1,345 program is only available to users in Kerala.
Through this program, BSNL is trying to attract users who have many requirements for data. With the increase in ratings of OTT platforms such as Hotstar, Amazon Prime, Zee5, and Netflix, consumers need more data. With such a plan, BSNL will attract subscribers to these platforms.
While such a plan can help BSNL attract more customers, it is still not as comfortable as Reliance Jio’s plan. Jio offers free calls and messaging as well as data advantages and free access to its Jio application suite in all of its programs. BSNL only provides data without any phone or SMS offers.
BSNL is currently in a difficult situation. The telecommunications industry has recently seen a lot of competition from new players, and most older players have been affected. The entry of Reliance Jio in 2016 has greatly affected the market. While Jio’s predatory pricing may be good news for consumers, it has been bad news for other operators who are forced to get at a lower price and take on more losses.
