Counterpoint Research said on Tuesday that in the Amazon and Flipkart holiday offers, India’s online smartphone sales could exceed $1 billion (approximately 740 billion rupees) over the next five days.
According to the report, smartphone sales may hit a record month in October, and the online channel share is expected to reach a record 42% for the first time in October.
Research analyst Anshika Jain said, “During this holiday season, online sales are expected to grow faster than offline sales, as the top two online retailers will take advantage of the pent-up holiday demand in the next 30 days.”
The top two e-commerce platforms will account for more than 90% of the share, which is the biggest contribution to the Indian online smartphone market in October.

Samsung also hopes to promote sales growth by launching several best-selling products on the online platform. Its Galaxy S9 ₹41,999 is now available for the rupee. The previous retail price was Rs. 42,990 ($578). 62,500 ($840) on Amazon.
The report added: “This Chinese brand’s contribution to total online sales is expected to exceed 70%.”
