Amazon is hosting a mobile game tournament called GameOn Masters in India. For casual gamers, it includes World Cricket Championship 2, World Table Tennis Championship, Jetpack Joyride (not an international version of Halfbrick, but developed by Mech Mocha), and an imaginative duo, Ludo Game and Real Carrom 3D: Multiplayer game.
According to a preparation statement from Amazon, the qualifiers for these games began on November 16. Forty players – eight in each game – will participate in the GameOn Masters India Championship at the India India Game Show from February 3rd to February 5th. The first prize winner of each competition receives Rs. 1,00,000. The organizer of the event is Nodwin Gaming, which runs ESL, Dreamhack and Mountain Dew Arena in India.
By the way, all of the above games use Amazon GameOn. This is a service that allows game developers to add competing features such as leaderboards, leagues and prizes. It is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon claims that the service also enables developers to drive engagement and monetize their games through local and regional competitions. More importantly, developers can also let streaming media and players create their own user-generated contests and invite participants.
GameOn is just one of Amazon’s many initiatives in the gaming arena. The company has a studio to develop new games, Amazon Appstore, Amazon Lumberyard Engine and Twitch, which host live broadcasts from game content creators.
